Terms of Service

1. The short version

By signing up, you're agreeing to these terms. We charge you the subscription price you picked, you get access to the app, you can cancel or get a refund (within 30 days of your first charge) any time. Be decent to other users and to our systems and we won't have a problem.

2. The service

Kalim is a subscription product that gives you access to a curriculum, an AI conversation tutor, and supporting features (Talk page, Coach for Conversational, pronunciation guide, progress tracking). It's a software service — we don't guarantee a specific learning outcome. Your progress depends on you showing up to practice.

We may change features over time — adding new ones, removing rarely-used ones, improving the AI. We'll keep the core promise of every plan (curriculum + AI tutor + Talk page) intact. If we ever materially reduce what a paid plan delivers, we'll email you in advance.

3. Your account

• You must be at least 16 to use Kalim.
• One account per person. Don't share your login.
• Keep your password safe. Tell us right away if you think your account is compromised.
• You're responsible for the activity on your account.

4. Subscription, billing, refunds

• Plans. Starter is $49/month. Conversational is $149/month. Prices are in US dollars unless stated otherwise. You can switch between plans, or cancel, at any time from Account → Subscription.
• Trial. Conversational has a 3-day no-card trial. If you don't add a card by the end, the trial cancels automatically and nothing is charged.
• Billing. Stripe charges you monthly on the same day of the month you first subscribed (or the closest available day in shorter months). You can update your payment method any time from the Stripe Customer Portal we link to from Account → Subscription.
• Refunds. Within 30 days of your first charge on any plan, we'll refund the full amount — no questions asked. Email support@kalimlabs.com.
• Cancellation. Cancel anytime. You keep access until the end of the period you've already paid for. We don't automatically refund partial months — but if something specific happened that wasn't fair, write to us and we'll make it right.
• Taxes. Prices shown don't include sales tax, VAT, or similar. If your country requires it, Stripe collects it on top of the listed price.

5. Acceptable use

You can use Kalim for personal language learning. You can't use it to:

• Scrape, crawl, or extract our curriculum, audio, or AI responses at scale.
• Resell, sublicense, or redistribute access to anyone else.
• Use the AI tutor to generate content for illegal, harmful, or harassing purposes.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, probe, or attack our systems.
• Use Kalim to train a competing AI system or language-learning product.

If you do any of the above, we may suspend or terminate your account without a refund.

6. Intellectual property

The curriculum, the lesson content, the AI prompts, the audio recordings, the brand, the design, the code — all of that belongs to Kalim Labs. We license it to you for personal use while your subscription is active. You don't get to copy or redistribute any of it.

Your data — your transcripts, your progress, what you wrote in conversations — belongs to you. You give us a limited license to use it only to deliver and improve the service to you.

7. What we don't promise

We're honest about what Kalim is and isn't. We can't and don't promise:

• That you'll become fluent in any specific timeframe. That depends on you.
• That the AI is always right. It's very good, but it makes mistakes.
• That the service will be available 100% of the time. We aim for high uptime, but software has outages.
• That Kalim will prepare you for a specific exam (CEFR, ACTFL, etc.) — we teach spoken Egyptian Arabic, not exam structure.

The service is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Kalim Labs is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Our total liability for anything related to the service is capped at the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.

9. Termination

You can stop using Kalim at any time. Cancel your subscription, or email us for full account deletion.

We can suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms — most commonly, the acceptable-use rules in section 5. We'll usually warn you first unless the violation is serious enough that we can't.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Kalim Labs is registered, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute that can't be settled informally will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction. If you're a consumer in a country whose law gives you specific local rights, those rights are not affected by this section.

11. Changes to these terms

We update these terms when our policies change. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. For changes that materially affect your rights, we'll email you in advance. Continuing to use Kalim after the change means you accept the new terms.
